Ashton Swartbooi

As part of the HySA&CCU team at CSIR, Ashton worked on composite cylinders for hydrogen storage for a while already. During this time, the team has developed competencies in design, development and modelling, or composite cylinders for hydrogen storage using additive manufacturing techniques.

Ashton’s expertise in GreenQUEST? Under the GreenQUEST project, the multi-disciplinary team is looking at various newer advanced manufacturing techniques to produce composite cylinders for gLFG storage. New manufacturing techniques will improve the weight factor of everyday steel cylinders, but still keeping cost of manufacturing at a minimum.
